BOF, aka Nathan Hughes, is an Adelaide DJ and producer whose history reaches back to the city’s formative club and rave years. Buying his first vinyl in 1985, he went on to become a regular behind the decks at venues including Heaven, Synagogue and Planet, building a reputation around underground house and techno, long-form mixing and a strong feel for the dancefloor. His sound now ranges from hypnotic and melodic techno through tougher warehouse grooves and schranz, while his production work brings the same harder edge into original music. Tracks such as “Behaviour Modification” reflect a growing focus on making as well as playing music. Hughes’ wider history includes Continuous Flow, while today he is the main force behind Dance Floor Heretics, where DJing, production, events, livestreams and label activity meet. Across all of it, BOF remains first and foremost a working DJ: record collector, selector and producer shaped by Adelaide’s underground.
