Andy J aka Andrew Gayler

Andy J is Andrew Gayler, and these days the decks come second to a considerably larger day job. He is managing director of AJS Lighting Sound Events, the Mile End South production house established in 1996, which supplies audio, lighting, video, rigging and staging across South Australia and is the largest provider of in house audio rental to Adelaide venues. The family owned company handles venue installations end to end, and while most DJs on a lineup turn up to play, he is as likely to have specified the rig they are playing on. Behind the decks, he was one of the selectors who built Adelaide's rave scene through the 90s, playing parties, raves and club nights across the city with a sound rooted in the records that defined a generation. Now he only comes out to play when the occasion is worth it, digging out his vinyl for the big old school nights like Vinyl Destination's Come Together series and Reunion Festival.
