Professor X aka Chris Philippou

Professor X is the DJ identity of Adelaide’s Chris Philippou, whose career reaches back to the city’s late-1990s rave and club period. Documented appearances include Momentum in February 1999 and an Easter Monday recovery party at Diamonds, placing him among the drum-and-bass and underground dance names active around Light Square and Waymouth Street. Across more than two decades, his musical interests have also moved through house, with archived mixes covering funky house, club favourites and classic selections. His Mixcloud collection preserves sets including Feel the Love and House Party recordings, showing a warmer, groove-led side alongside his rave background. After taking time away from performing and announcing the retirement of the Professor X identity, Philippou later returned to the decks, with the name again appearing on Adelaide reunion line-ups. His booking for The Reunion Festival connects his current appearances with artists who helped shape Adelaide’s club culture.
