Sarez, the stage name of Andrew Sarakinis, is an award-winning South Australian DJ, radio host and event curator with more than 25 years behind the decks. Raised in the Riverland by Greek migrant parents, he began collecting dance music and playing local parties before helping establish a club scene in the region during the late 1990s. His Adelaide breakthrough came in 2001, when he won Heaven nightclub’s DJ competition against 35 entrants. Club residencies, interstate bookings and festival appearances followed, including Future Music, Parklife and Summadayze. Sarez has hosted Triple J’s Mix Up and appeared regularly on Fresh 92.7, including as co-host of Synergy. Twice voted South Australia’s number-one DJ in the inthemix50 awards, he also placed among Australia’s top 50 DJs in 2006 and 2008. Known for house music, hands-in-the-air party sets and strong crowd reading, he now pairs DJ work with event management, rooftop parties and support for younger regional performers.
