Jaki J is a long-serving Adelaide DJ, MC and party host whose career spans about 30 years. He was a familiar face at Planet Disco at The Planet in the mid 1990s, Timewarp at Heaven from the late 1990s into the early 2000s and Flashdance at HQ from the mid 2000s to the early 2010s, and has been resident at Woolshed since the mid 2010s. Along the way he built his name on playful presentation, broad musical knowledge and an instinct for bringing mixed-age crowds together. His sets can shift from acid jazz, funk and house to disco, retro, pop, R&B, dance classics and punchy Top 40 remixes, with costumes, humour, crowd interaction, Chupa Chups and the occasional tambourine all part of the experience. Beyond clubs, Jaki has hosted Adelaide’s Australia Day parade at Elder Park and counted down the Glenelg New Year’s Eve fireworks before a crowd of around 40,000. He also helps run Do You Remember House, celebrating the house, rave and club records that shaped Adelaide dancefloors. Still active
