MPK, aka Daniel Michael, has been part of Adelaide’s electronic music story since taking to the decks in early 1992. His early sets paired hard breakbeat with Detroit techno, while a Wednesday residency at Discovery placed him near the centre of the city’s rave culture. He later became closely associated with drum and bass as a DJ, producer and co-founder of the Enchanted Forest series. Across decades of clubs, raves and festivals, MPK has built a reputation for forceful, paced sets and deep musical knowledge. His history includes appearances alongside Goldie, Sub Focus, Ray Keith and Pendulum, while his vinyl-classics sets keep Adelaide’s earlier DnB years connected to the present. Beyond DJing, Daniel is an event producer: he co-founded Gluttony, directs Groove Events and helped bring the Our Sound drum and bass festival to Bonython Park. Recent bookings at VIBE, MAYDAY and the Discovery reunion confirm that MPK remains an active selector and a builder of Adelaide’s dance community.
