Kontrol, aka John Morley, has been part of Adelaide’s dance music community since the late 1990s. Named House DJ of the Year in 2004, he became a regular across the city’s clubs, raves and reunion events, including Heaven, HQ reunions, Elysium and Block Rocking Beats alongside Groove Terminator. During the mid-2000s he held a Thursday residency at Venus at the Arkaba with RMAC, Skot Holder and DJ Ben, helping soundtrack a period in Adelaide club culture. His sets move through house, club classics and tougher dancefloor material, reflecting years spent playing to local crowds. Away from the booth, Morley is one of the DJs behind Reunion Adelaide, working with Souli, RMAC and Audioporn to celebrate the venues, records and personalities that shaped the city’s nightlife. Recent appearances include Reunion Festival, MAYDAY 2.0 at the Old Adelaide Gaol, Long Weekender at Atlantis and Vinyl Destination’s Come Together series, keeping his connection with Adelaide’s dance community active.
