Driller aka Driller Jet Armstrong

Driller Jet Armstrong is an Adelaide DJ, visual artist and nightlife figure whose work has connected the city’s clubs, festivals and art communities for three decades. A British transplant, he began working Adelaide pubs and clubs in the late 1980s and won the Adelaide Fringe poster competition in 1990. Behind the decks Driller draws from underground house, disco, funk and left-field dance music, guided less by genre boundaries than by a record’s effect on the room. In December 2002 he co-founded Sugar on Rundle Street, shaping it into one of Adelaide’s enduring underground nightclubs and a home for local selectors and hundreds of international guests. He was later inducted into the SA Dance Music Hall of Fame, while his Percussions warehouse party received Renew Adelaide’s 2016 Best Community Event award. Armstrong also founded the Daubist art movement and Dessert Island Discs label, continuing a career built around music, visual culture, independent spaces and constructive rebellion.
