PhD aka Phil Hardy

PhD is the DJ name of Phil Hardy, a longtime Adelaide selector, record collector and contributor to the city's electronic music community. His work reaches beyond the booth into event organisation and the preservation of Adelaide's club history. In 2016, Hardy helped organise Movement Electronic Music Festival with Cathy Adamek, DJ Tom Cotter, FutureSounds Adelaide and Ashcats Soundsystem. Held at the Crown & Sceptre, Movement paired a three-room, multi-genre program with a producers forum, bringing pioneers of Adelaide dance music into conversation with a newer generation of artists. PhD's record knowledge also places him within collector-led events. He appeared at the Curated Record Fair at Smokelovers alongside Delta, Stevie King, HMC, Late Nite Tuff Guy, Disco Ingrid and other Adelaide DJs and sellers. Covering soul, funk, disco, house, techno and hip hop, the event reflected Hardy's connection to music culture as both a selector and supporter of Adelaide's electronic heritage.
