James Corbett was born in Adelaide, spent his early years in the UK, and now lives in back in Adelaide. BBC Radio 1's late night shows started it, and he was mixing on twin tape decks by nine. The career proper began in 2001 with hard house and trance. These days he is a label DJ for United Beats Records, Mad Maxx's imprint, working in full-on psy trance built on melodic leads, distinctive bass lines and atmosphere. Progressive and other strains of psy get a look in too, because the journey matters more than the genre. Nothing is planned past a playlist of options, which is the point. The stages have included Tree of Life in Greece, AUM in New Zealand, and Earthcore and Babylon in Victoria, the latter two as The Psy-entists with Adam Stapleton. Support slots run to Ace Ventura, Liquid Soul, Astrix and Infected Mushroom. He also runs Psyence Lab radio and co-produced the documentary Decks and the City.
