Mikey aka Michael Heinicke

Mikey, real name Michael Heinicke, is an Adelaide drum and bass DJ and member of the Inbound Squadron. Drawn into the music as a teenager through hip hop and breakbeat culture, he became part of the crew that helped give Adelaide DnB a home from the late 1990s onward. His sets are grounded in heavyweight selections, rolling basslines and the darker edge of drum and bass, with vinyl classics remaining part of his identity. His 2010 Adelaide Massive mix documents an ability to move through the genre with patience and weight, balancing clean blends with tracks built for a sound system. Mikey continues to appear beside fellow Inbound veterans at reunions and current events, supporting artists including Ray Keith, Bailey and ANT TC1. His bookings span intimate rooms, all-day sessions and crew celebrations, showing a selector comfortable setting the pace or driving peak-time energy. Decades into his involvement, Mikey remains tied to Adelaide’s DnB community and the enduring Inbound legacy.
