Electric Circus
17 Crippen Pl, Adelaide

Capacity: 822
Electric Circus opened in 2003, when Paul Glen and James Hillier took over an existing bar down Crippen Place and turned it into a music driven nightclub and record store. More than two decades on it is an Adelaide institution, and still the city's most recognisable basement.
It sits at the bottom of a three level complex just off Hindley Street, with Mr Kim's on the ground floor and Rocket Bar & Rooftop above. Capacity is 822, doors run through to five in the morning, and the room has carried a long list of international names over the years, from 2manyDJs and Justice to Calvin Harris and The Bloody Beetroots. Rihanna reportedly called it one of the best clubs she had played in Australia.
The current calendar leans underground. UK garage and bass, techno from Front Room, TMO and Simply Techno, and a rotating curated series that hands an entire lineup to one local selector to build as they see fit.
