Ginni aka Virginia Blackwell

Ginni is the Adelaide DJ alias of Virginia Blackwell, a multidisciplinary artist whose background spans music, performance, writing and directing. Her musical roots reach back to childhood piano and classical training, later extending through ensemble singing with Young Adelaide Voices before electronic music and DJing became another part of her creative practice. Away from the booth, Blackwell has built a parallel career across theatre and film as an actor, writer and director, including the short film Dragging the Chain, which screened internationally. That wider artistic background gives Ginni a perspective shaped by performance, storytelling and years spent working across different forms of music and stagecraft. Rather than treating DJing as an isolated project, Ginni sits within a broader creative life that connects music, cinema, theatre and live performance.
