xela rae is the Adelaide-based project of Scottish-Australian DJ and producer Alana Alexander, known for bass-focused sets moving between UK garage, dubstep, 140, baile funk, techno and other club sounds. Their selections shift from dark, sub-heavy pressure to percussive, dancefloor-driven material, with genre boundaries treated as something to move through rather than stay inside. The project has built a strong local presence through Electric Circus, Ancient World and other Adelaide rooms, including a Keep Hush live set and support appearances for Coki, MPH, Silva Bumpa, Main Phase, Mandidextrous and Yushh. xela rae also produces edits and original material, including collaborations with STOLDT. Outside the solo project, Alexander is one half of CRA$H OUT and is involved with Sleepwalking Ent, a collective focused on community-led events. They have also curated their own Electric Circus lineup, bringing the same bass-heavy, left-field approach to programming as to their DJ sets.
