Kaurset aka Embar Kaur

Kaurset is an Adelaide-based DJ, singer and songwriter whose music brings South Asian roots into conversation with contemporary Western pop and electronic sounds. Her songwriting draws on heartbreak, identity and the complications of everyday life, making the kind of music she wished she had heard growing up. Behind the decks, that same cross-cultural approach becomes a playful mix of global rhythms and club sounds, with heritage and dancefloor energy sharing equal space. Her releases include Dumpling Shop, Don't Worry, uh oh! and A Z A D I, moving across pop, electronic, dance and soul. Dumpling Shop also received a 2023 remix from Valley Flaxman. Alongside releasing original songs and sharing DJ mixes, she has appeared at Ancient World, including on the bill for skip-a-beat's Adelaide debut with Spryk, Dave Court and Know.Clu. Across her recordings and sets, Kaurset connects personal expression with the shared pleasure of finding familiar sounds in unexpected company.
