Arkaba Hotel

The Arkaba Hotel opened in 1966 on the corner of Glen Osmond and Fullarton Roads, and turned sixty this year. The Hurley family bought it in 1991 and have run it since, putting twelve million dollars through a full renovation that finished in 2024, the first major work on the building in six decades. It is a four star hotel as much as a venue: 62 rooms, a restaurant, a cellars outlet, a gaming room and Sportys, whose 360 degree wraparound LED screen was the first of its kind in Australia. Function spaces run up to 1970 people, and Top of the Ark handles the live performances. The dance floor programming leans hard on nostalgia. McMahons has brought its late eighties reunion here with original DJs and classic lighting, Vinyl Destination run a two floor Halloween rave across seventeen DJs, and Do You Remember House are bringing Ultra Naté in from the States in November for a nineties and noughties house night.
