step is Jeremy Cornish, a bass music producer from New Zealand now based in South Australia, and his own description of the project reads more like a manifesto than a bio: hallucinatory soundscapes, deep vibrations, captivating textures, intoxicating broken beats. Dubstep taken back to its roots, then a step further. The approach is patient rather than punchy. Carefully layered journeys with organic undertones, built for hypnotic effect and best described, in his own words, as deeply psychedelic. A little darkness makes the light shine brighter is the line he closes on. Sixty odd uploads sit behind it, among them The step Files series. Adelaide has taken to it. Wickid Lickwid gave him the ambient opening set when Mystic State came over from South West England, which is a slot that suits the sound exactly, and tOAStjam had him at Low Life Basement Bar for the first of their jam sessions.
