wavecult

wavecult began in 2017 as an internet group and became a physical thing when Immerse brought H3idrun and Arna in. Nine years on it is Adelaide's home for the darker end of bass music: wave, dubstep and drum & bass with a touch of techno and psy, always carried on the Tordenheim rig. Imbolc is the centrepiece. Three days and nights in the bush north of Adelaide, forty plus artists, timed to the pagan spring that falls halfway between the winter solstice and the equinox. It works as ritual as much as festival, with a gong marking each stage, a hearth staff where people tie something they are willing to release, and a closing ceremony that burns it. Each year takes an element.
