Redline Dubstars
Run by: Counterpart, Jayar
Redline Dubstars is an Adelaide dubstep and bass-music DJ collective founded by Jayar and Counterpart in 2007. The crew emerged as dubstep took hold locally, pooling resources to bring Benga to the original Rhino Room for Adelaide’s first dedicated all-dubstep party. Early residents included Bennie Raw and Macro, while Redline events helped establish a home for dubstep, breakstep, UK garage, future garage, drum and bass and related low-end sounds. Its original run built a reputation for bass-heavy rooms reinforced with extra subwoofers. Redline later returned to connect that history with Adelaide’s current bass generation. Recent work includes co-presenting Roni Size and Visages, and Ivy Lab with AirDNB, plus the REWIND reunion series with tOASt at Low Life Basement Bar. Those nights place original selectors beside newer DJs, keeping early records in circulation while giving rising artists space on the bill. Redline Dubstars remains driven by the same principle: for the love of bass.
