Lion Arts Factory

Lion Arts Factory

68 North Terrace, Adelaide
The building went up in 1906 as D. & J. Fowler's Lion grocery factory, designed by Frank Counsell in federation style with a stone lion perched on the parapet that took a Melbourne stonemason three months to carve. It became the Living Arts Centre in the eighties, then Fowler's Live in 2004, and relaunched as Lion Arts Factory in 2019 under Five Four Entertainment, Penny Hospitality and Frame Creative. Capacity is 500 around a thirteen metre stage, with long bars, a mezzanine, the Coopers Green Room downstairs and a private bar called the Den. The PA is a scaled down version of the Thebarton Theatre rig, and the building itself is state heritage listed. Bands still lead the calendar, but the room takes dance events well. Lost City returned here after a decade away with Sleep D and a multi genre bill, Your Shot ran its showcase weekend, and Club Anthems Live reworks club records with a live band.
