Morphettville Racecourse is Adelaide’s principal thoroughbred racing venue and the home of the South Australian Jockey Club, with racing on the site dating back to 1875. Set across 25 hectares at 79 Morphett Road, the complex combines two race tracks with lawns, bars, function rooms and large indoor and outdoor spaces used well beyond race days. Its scale has also made Morphettville a useful home for major music gatherings, including Reunion Festival, which has filled multiple arenas with generations of Adelaide DJs, and Dangerous Goods XXL. The venue’s function spaces range from smaller rooms to the 1,000-capacity Morphett Room and the 1,500-capacity Adelaide Cup Room, while the wider grounds allow much larger outdoor formats. With tram access at the racecourse, more than 1,000 onsite parking spaces and a location between the CBD and Glenelg, Morphettville works as both a historic racing institution and one of Adelaide’s more flexible large-format entertainment sites.
