The Drive is a covered open-air sports, concert and events venue on War Memorial Drive in North Adelaide, beside Adelaide Oval and the River Torrens. Opened as Memorial Drive Park in 1921, it has been the home of South Australian tennis for more than a century and hosts the Adelaide International. A $48 million redevelopment completed in 2023 added new north and east stands, a roof over Centre Court, improved spectator facilities and function spaces while retaining the site’s red-brick heritage. The main arena seats about 6,500 for tennis and can hold up to 7,000 people for concerts. Memorial Drive also has a long live-music history, with past performers including Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Elton John, Cold Chisel, Dire Straits, Pearl Jam and Powderfinger. Its roof provides weather protection while keeping the feel of an outdoor venue, making The Drive suitable for concerts, festivals, sporting events, functions and community gatherings close to
