Nightshade
15 Solomon St, Adelaide
Capacity: 100
Nightshade opened in February 2024 in the old 1000 Island space on Solomon Street, wedged between Cry Baby and Sunny's Pizza. Jon Di Pinto and Ash Wilson built it, and the name came from their partners, who are sisters, borrowed from the Lana Del Rey line about deadly nightshade.
The look is neon soaked eighties, all synth pop and Miami Vice, with booth seating and a late night dance floor. A discreet door connects it to Cry Baby so crowds can move freely between the two. It holds about 100, which makes it one of the smallest rooms in the West End, and Inside Out Audio has since fitted it out with a Funktion-One rig.
That combination of tiny room and serious sound has drawn the melodic and progressive crowd. Faze One curate Mindshift here for dancers who live for the music, and Front Room and Reborn brought Anjunabeats artist Anamē in for their Adelaide debut on the album tour.
