Zhivago

Zhivago opened on Light Square in 2003 and moved to a Currie Street basement in 2011 when it outgrew the original room. The name means life in Russian, and after more than two decades it is one of the longest running nightclubs in the country.
The main room takes 450 around a large dance floor, premium booths and a 360 degree octagonal bar that measures half the length of an Olympic pool. Room 2 adds another 120, and the whole venue including the laneway runs to 550 across two bars and two DJ booths. For its tenth birthday the walls were handed to Melbourne street artist Makatron and a crew including Adnate and Adelaide's own Fredrock, who themed the place in gold and black like a beehive.
It is a hip hop and RnB club by default, which is part of what made the Bailey booking notable. Inbound and AirDNB took over both stages for a minimum three hour drum & bass set with an upgraded rig.
