The Gov
59 Port Road, Hindmarsh

Capacity: 1200
The Governor Hindmarsh Hotel opened at 59 Port Road in 1848 and still wears much the same facade it did then. Known universally as The Gov, it fell into disrepair before the Tonkin family took it over in 1993 and rebuilt it as South Australia's leading live music venue.
The scale is unusual for a pub. Capacity runs to 1200 across three stages, eight event spaces and seven bars, with the front bar handling open mic nights and Irish jam sessions while the main room takes the touring acts. Paul Kelly, Hilltop Hoods, Sia, Keith Urban and The Black Keys have all played it. The awards cabinet holds two national AHA titles for Best Entertainment Venue and induction into the South Australian Music Awards Hall of Fame.
Electronic music comes through the same doors. Ninajirachi brought her Dark Crystal V tour here, and Project Hardstyle turned the room over to Mish, Bloodlust and Manji for a hardstyle takeover.
