Confession
60 Marryatt St, Port Adelaide
Confession occupies an 1850s church on Marryatt Street, and the gothic bones are the whole appeal. Founder Shane Hryhorec, a disability advocate and wheelchair user, opened it permanently in 2023 after two Fringe pop ups, gutting and rebuilding the interior with imported porcelain tiles, copper basins and handrails throughout for a high end speakeasy finish.
Accessibility is the point here rather than an afterthought. Step free entry, four accessible parking bays, a green room for performers, and a stated commitment to reviving Port Adelaide's live music scene. The main room takes 200 standing, with a smaller dance room alongside it and a sound system specified for far bigger crowds.
Nights run in two halves. Cabaret, burlesque, Fringe acts and live music from six, then DJs from ten until two. Snowh!te and Mrq are the residents, and the calendar leans on themed throwbacks and DnB Fridays.
