Potentially Hugo aka Hugo Salcedo

Potentially Hugo is Hugo Salcedo, a Colombian DJ, percussionist and producer from Cartagena who has been in Adelaide since 1999 and has spent most of that time building the city's Latin scene rather than working its club circuit. The origin story is a good one. Invited to jam at a WOMADelaide after party for Cuban band Las Perlas del Son, he ended up dancing on stage, and the requests for lessons that followed turned into Latino Grooves: a dance school, events company and entertainment agency all under the one roof. He fronts the bands Salcedo and Soul Macumbia, founded Socialbeat Entertainment, teaches at Kols Dance Academy, and runs the weekly Latin nights the city has long since come to expect. The Rocket Bar bookings sit outside all of that. He played the All-Stars in April and Hip-Hop Up Top in August alongside Jack Jelly, working open format rather than Latin.
