Smrf

SMRF is an Adelaide DJ, producer and recording artist formerly known as shi'LO. Born and raised in the city, he began DJing in 2016, building on a background in playing instruments and songwriting. His work spans singing, rapping, production and engineering, with a catalogue that crosses hip-hop, R&B, pop and indie sounds. In 2020, he co-founded BARKADA with Vanz, bringing together creatives from predominantly South East and South Asian backgrounds. Releases under shi'LO include the four-track EP '27', the album 'Til Tomorrow' and singles 'Nauseous' and 'Wild To Me'. His track 'Breathe' featured in CityMag's Adelaide music roundup, while his FRAME Tapes mix approached DJing as a feature-length story about love. Club appearances connect that recording background with Adelaide nightlife, from hip-hop bills under shi'LO to Rocket Bar All-Stars bookings as SMRF. Across both names, collaboration and a hands-on approach to making music remain central to his work.
