Sidewood Estate

Owen and Cassandra Inglis founded Sidewood in 2004 after buying a property at Oakbank that came with a vineyard attached, which changed the plan from raising horses to making wine. The estate now runs 110 hectares across four Adelaide Hills sites, and the cellar door and restaurant opened at Hahndorf in 2020 on a former orchard and sheep farm. The building is hard to miss, a jet black exterior set against the eucalypts with soaring gables, stone and timber inside and a private collection of Australian artwork on the walls. There is a courtyard, a veranda, lawn bowls, VIP day beds and a garden play area, and the room takes 250. Music happens outdoors among the vines. We Are Family runs there as an all ages afternoon of wood fired pizza, Sidewood wines and uplifting disco, house and dance edits, with Chef Nick Filsell cooking and Maestro D, Ezee G, JoSH and Justice on the decks.
