2KW Bar & Restaurant

2KW sits on level eight of the old Colonial Mutual Life building at the corner of King William and Hindley Streets, which makes it a rooftop bar on top of one of Adelaide's genuine landmarks. The CML building went up in 1934, neo Romanesque and faced in Benedict stone, and stood as the tallest thing in the city for more than three decades afterwards. The venue holds 260 and splits between an indoor restaurant and an outdoor terrace, the latter with a marble bar, lounge seating and northern views taking in Government House and the Adelaide Oval. The wine list was shortlisted for the World's Best Medium Wine List in 2021, and the dress code rules out trainers and sporting gear entirely. Music is an evening and weekend proposition rather than the main event. Wines & Good Times brought Good Friday here, a sun to stars disco session with a free spritz hour and eight DJs working the terrace.
