Dubvert

Dubvert is the bass-focused evolution of Subvert, the independent Adelaide event series founded in 2018 by DJ and curator Medea. Based on Kaurna land, the project creates intimate, sound-system-led parties where dubstep meets dub techno, broken beat, leftfield bass, electro and psychedelic club music. Its programming connects international selectors with trusted local artists, favouring adventurous, low-end-heavy sets over predictable genre boundaries. The wider Subvert archive includes appearances by Wata Igarashi, Haruka, Polygonia, Azu Tiwaline, Al Wootton, Konduku, DJ Maria, Pugilist and Lena Willikens, while Dubvert launched its new chapter at Ancient World with Brighton selector Dub Athlete alongside Skorpion King, Mr John, Medea and NINJA. Community and presence are central to the series: dancefloors operate without photography or filming, and events carry a clear zero-tolerance policy toward racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, predatory conduct and intimidation.
