Mr John aka John Spencer

Mr. John is John Spencer, an Adelaide DJ who has been playing the city’s clubs since 2010 and who most often plays back to back with SKORPION KING, building expressive, safer dancefloors. Together they run DEEPTANK, which has helped revive Adelaide’s underground dubstep scene through sound system culture, harm reduction, community and deep listening, hosting heavyweights Sepia, Ickle, Sub Basics and Coki from the UK and Leo Cap from Thailand. With SKORPION KING and Dom he co-hosted Seashell Music: For Psychic Enhancement & Sonic Relief on duck! radio, and the pair recorded Hypnagogic Bass Healing, a dubwise back to back session at Aya Studio in Bali. Sugar and Ancient World have been his most regular rooms, from supporting DJ Perception at Sugar Invites to Strict Face’s Initial B: Fast Driving Bass, Spring Fling ‘24 with Bored Lord and Dubvert’s Dub Athlete night in April 2026.
