Cargo Ago Go aka Renato Capoccia

Cargo Ago Go is the revival of the Cargo Club, the Hindley Street venue Renato Capoccia ran from 1987 until the late 90s. He turned a humble family restaurant into one of Adelaide's most eclectic and inventive clubs, booking funk, acid jazz, techno, hip hop and even poetry while most of the city was still booking punk and rock bands. Live music and DJs went hand in hand: a young Sia played there, Groove Terminator was on the decks, and in 1992 John Farnham and the cast of Jesus Christ Superstar crashed the club to play live. The building has since been demolished, but Cargo Ago Go brings the spirit back with reunion parties built around the original selectors, including the Huggy Bear Sound System, with Renato himself on the decks as DJ Signor Rautie. Its SoundCloud doubles as an archive of the era, with recordings including New Rhythm Syndicate live in 1995, HMC, and ATB with GTB in 1996.
