Austral Laneway

Austral Laneway is an open-air event space beside the historic Austral Hotel at 205 Rundle Street in Adelaide’s East End. During Adelaide Fringe, it converts a city passage into an outdoor dancefloor with bars, food, seating, lighting and a dedicated sound system. Its Laneway Series is known for free house, disco, progressive and techno parties, often running from late afternoon until midnight before continuing inside the hotel’s Gala Room. The Front Room has played a major role in its programme, presenting Lovebirds, Stella Bossi, Luttrell, Market Memories and Anjunadeep artist Marsh alongside Adelaide selectors. Events have featured Funktion-One sound outside, with the adjoining Gala Room providing a Void system for afterparties. The venue supports residents-first showcases such as Simply Techno’s Fringe closing party. Compact, informal and set between East End’s brick walls, Austral Laneway offers Adelaide a street-party atmosphere within one of Rundle Street’s longstanding pubs.
