Knoxy aka Jeremy Knox

Also known as: Mr Carter, DirtyFunk

Knoxy is Adelaide DJ Jeremy Knox, a selector active since around 1996. Starting with Technics 1210s, a Gemini mixer and a house collection, he moved through progressive house, trance and rave before adding funk, acid jazz, soul, big beat and deep house to sets played around live bands. As jungle developed into drum & bass, Knox followed the new sound and played his first DnB club set at Silverfish. Across his career he has performed as Knoxy, DirtyFunk and Mr Carter, choosing the name to match the music: Knoxy for drum & bass and broader club sets, DirtyFunk for house material, and Mr Carter for funk and soul vinyl sessions. His mixes also cover liquid DnB, jungle, breaks, dubstep and electro. Knox cites Erick Morillo, Groove Terminator and Fatboy Slim among his DJ influences, with Subliminal, Defected and Strictly Rhythm shaping his house background. Still recording and sharing mixes, he remains connected to both Adelaide’s early club history and its continuing drum & bass culture.
