Hewitson is Hugh Verrall, a DJ working out of Adelaide on Kaurna land, moving between deep house, minimal and acid tech. There is no written bio anywhere, so the mixes have to speak for him, and going back through them the drift is clear enough: chill deep house in 2023, minimal and acid tech by the following year, and a steady move toward the deeper, wonkier end since. The Petrichor mixes are the through line, a pair of them across 2024, alongside a back to back with Hi I'm Jack recorded for Spin Lizzy and Inside Out with Anthea, an Out of Office session and a set from a boat party one December. His most recent upload is the one that matters most. Acetic booked him for SWARM at Ancient World, a night split between deep wonky minimal upstairs and prog in the basement, and he took the closing slot from one until three, with Chutney, Mel Lake, Sunny, Dr Watson and cu.b filling out the rest.
