Chutney

Chutney is an Adelaide selector also billed as Chutney Spoons, with a sound spanning progressive house, minimal, techno and left-field club music. Their sets favour low-slung grooves, odd rhythmic turns and a balance between deeper material and late-night pressure. Chutney supported Moktar and DINA at Subvert’s 2023 event at Ancient World, joining DJ Cookie for a night connecting club music, techno, Arabic instrumentation and trance. In 2026, Chutney returned to the Hindley Street basement for Acetic’s SWARM, sharing the line-up with Mel Lake, Hewiston, Sunny, Dr Watson and cu.b. The event divided Ancient World between deep, wonky minimal upstairs and pumping progressive sounds below, placing Chutney among local selectors comfortable outside strict genre lines. Chutney’s profile is rooted in small rooms and independent parties.
