Glenn October is an Adelaide DJ, vinyl selector and the founder of Closer Record Store in Glenelg. His approach is rooted in digging for obscure electronic music and building sets around records that reward close listening rather than obvious choices. After stepping away from regular DJing, he returned during the pandemic by filming sets at home, a process that helped reconnect him with the local scene and eventually fed into the creation of Closer. Since opening as a physical store in 2021, Closer has become closely tied to Glenn’s identity as a DJ, giving him a base for vinyl, livestreams, visiting selectors and a steady exchange of new music. His taste moves through the deeper and more leftfield ends of house, techno and related electronic sounds, with curiosity and selection at the centre. Alongside running Closer, Glenn continues to play Adelaide events and collaborative showcases, carrying the same record-focused approach from the shop into clubs and independent spaces.
