Darby aka Jason Darby

Darby, aka Jason Darby, is an Adelaide drum and bass and jungle DJ with ties to the city’s underground bass community. Known among local crews as an original Adelaide junglist, he brings the perspective of a listener and selector who has followed the music beyond short-lived trends. His sets centre on rolling breakbeats, heavyweight low end and the restless momentum shared by jungle and drum and bass, with an emphasis on records made for close, energetic rooms. Darby has appeared with Low Kool Selection, joining DT3, Rendrz, Tee-J and PAB for a night session at Winston on Hindley Street. That booking placed him alongside selectors drawn from different parts of Adelaide’s DnB network, in a free-entry format focused on the music and the local community around it. While Darby keeps a relatively low online profile, his return to the decks and continued presence around Adelaide bass events link him with the city’s earlier jungle foundations and the selectors carrying that history forward.
