Some Brown aka Bilal Farooqi

Some Brown is the Adelaide DJ alias of Bilal Farooqi, with a public history stretching back to at least the mid-2010s. He was part of the Dog and Duck resident team by 2017, supporting Timmy Trumpet on his Satellites tour, and later appeared at the 2018 Sound & Vibes festival at Adelaide Showground. His bookings have continued across clubs, festivals and all-ages/community settings, including Amplifii in 2023, Schoolies Festival 2023 and Cherry Nightclub’s House Party roster. In 2024 he was selected for Cherry’s dedicated stage at Spin Off, where reviews noted an infectious, crowd-focused set. Farooqi also maintains the Some Brown DJ SoundCloud, which identifies him as Adelaide-based and includes edits such as his 2022 “Firestarter x Up” smash-up. Rather than sitting in one narrow genre, Some Brown’s documented work points to an open-format, party-driven style shaped for busy club floors, festival crowds and accessible community events.
