Julian Smith is an Adelaide DJ, vinyl collector, singer and visual artist with 18 years of professional experience in the city’s club scene. Progressive house sits at the centre of his musical identity, particularly the melodic, uplifting end of the genre, and he continues sharing selections from his record collection through club sets and online vinyl streams. Smith’s approach is grounded in playing music he genuinely loves, favouring patient progression and emotional movement over simply following the demands of a room. His recent appearances include an uplifting beachfront session for Dancing Room at Henley Square, where his melodic and progressive house followed Megasaurus for an open-air dancefloor. He has also played Nevermind and streamed progressive-house vinyl from Adelaide’s SzechOne studio. Beyond DJing, Smith is a trained singer, performs as a rock-band lead vocalist and maintains a visual-art practice, giving his work a creative foundation that extends beyond the decks.
