Clarity Records

Clarity Records is an independent music store, record label and community hub. Opened by Matt “Footy” and Laura Horvath on 17 April 2010, it was created after local record-shop closures left fewer places for Adelaide artists to sell their work and fans to find specialist releases. Clarity stocks new and second-hand vinyl, CDs, books, zines, DVDs and merchandise, covering punk, hardcore, metal, indie, hip hop, rock, jazz, blues, soul, funk, electronic and more. The store imports releases from around the world while strongly supporting Adelaide and Australian music. It also operates a label, hosts listening parties and records Clarity Sessions with local artists. Since 2015, it has organised the free A Day of Clarity music festival. Renovations in 2021 incorporated the adjoining premises and doubled the shop’s size. Its annual Record Store Day celebration remains a cornerstone event, combining limited releases, second-hand finds, merchandise and a full day of vinyl culture.
