My Dead Grandpa

My Dead Grandpa is a 900 square metre vintage marketplace on Ranelagh Street, opened in February 2025 by the Troup siblings after they saw the model working in Melbourne. The building was a wrecked car park when they found it: roof caved in, every window smashed, cement floor under a layer of glass and cigarette butts. Ben Troup says something about the space felt right anyway. It now houses more than fifty independent vendors selling retro fashion, furniture, toys and collectibles, with a strict rule that everything is at least fifteen years old. Five of those stalls deal in vinyl, CDs and cassettes, which is what brings it onto a music index in the first place. Look for the bright red building covered in stars. The music side goes well beyond retail. My Dead Grandpa run Record Store Day as a two day vinyl market with live DJ sets, and put DJs into Light Square for their Wauwi Nights pop ups.
