Ember aka Shaylee McMillan

Ember is Adelaide DJ Shaylee McMillan, whose rave roots stretch back two decades as a stage dancer and dancefloor regular. Nicknamed “the fire starter” by Rhino—but never performing under that name—she first mixed hardcore with friends before changing direction about five years ago. With John-E as her mentor, Ember learned hard house and NRG from the ground up, building sets around driving basslines, euphoric passages and physical energy. She won the Ignition DJ competition in February 2025, followed by a two-hour appearance featuring John-E vs Ember and an hour-long solo set. They later performed a versus set at System 6 during Paul Glazby’s Adelaide show. Those appearances were not billed as SinNRG; the duo’s first performance under that name is scheduled for HHN. John-E, Dramatik and Kodiak remain her inspirations. Living with progressive hearing loss caused by otosclerosis, Ember is determined to keep DJing and help return more women to Adelaide’s male-dominated hard-dance scene.
