Ember aka Shaylee McMillan

Ember is the DJ alias of Adelaide selector Shaylee McMillan, also known as Shay, whose path to the decks grew from years inside the city’s rave community. Before DJing, she was a stage dancer and raver, immersed in hard house, hard NRG, hardcore, freeform, UK hardcore and drum and bass. That background shapes sets built around forceful basslines, euphoric peaks and an emotional connection with the crowd. Ember won the DJ competition for Ignition’s February 2025 outdoor event, receiving a two-hour appearance that included a versus set with JohnE followed by a solo hour. She later reunited with JohnE for another versus performance at System 6 during the Adelaide appearance of UK hard-house figure Paul Glazby. In August 2026, Ember joined JohnE as the new member of SinNRG, beginning a fresh chapter for the Adelaide hard-dance act. Performing under the “Fire Starter” banner, she brings the same intensity she carried as a dancer into fast, direct and celebratory hard-house sets.
